Brooks Harper

"Why should we hire you?"

Brooks will help students to connect the dots between Today’s decisions and Tomorrow’s college and career options.

We are celebrating Career & Technical Education Month® in February with several great activities for students in our EIEFES 340 Region!

The 8th Grade Career Conference has gone Virtual this year! We are hosting our favorite career speaker and author, Brooks Harper! He has a dynamic message to share with your students regarding Career Readiness and Turning Earning into Learning! Check him out at brooksharper.com and on Twitter @brooksharper. Brooks' 30 minute video presentation will be available from Monday, February 8th thru Friday, February 12th. Registered schools will receive a link to Brooks Harper's Video Presentation. Your school may also share the video link with 9th Grade Students, since we did not hold the Event in 2020.

While completing the form for the Virtual 8GCC schools will also sign up to receive a printed version of the Illinois State Board of Education Career Guide 20-21 for each 8th Grade Student in their School. This 50 page Guide includes exciting updates regarding CTE, Career Pathways and Career Connected Learning, it will be a great resource for your students!

Additionally, February would be a great month to make sure students are utilizing their access to Career Cruising to complete career assessments, explore careers and work on their plan for the future. Eastern IL Education for Employment System uses CTE Grant Funds to support student use of Career Cruising at each School District in our Region.

Together these activities support student achievement as it relates to important objectives in Career Readiness!

Registration for the Virtual 8th Grade Career Conference will be available online from January 28th thru February 8th. EIEFES Schools can check their email for the registration flyer or contact our office.
